Wallpaper isn't easy. Sometimes it's hard to find enough rolls of a gorgeous vintage wallpaper (a la Dorthy Draper and the infamous Greenbriar) to cover an entire wall. Sometimes it's ridiculously expensive to purchase a 1 roll of some of the fabulous wallpapers on the market today - think Cole & Sons, Hygge & West or Graham & Brown. Sometimes it's simply a pain in the butt to track down a wall-paperer, agree on the cost and make the necessary arrangements. A lot of the time, people are still scared to commit to such permanency (due to the work that goes into hanging the paper), scared of adding color and pattern or are simply just scared of "resale", which is a pet peeve of mine. Occasionally, we're renters - like me - and aren't allowed to touch the walls (thankfully my house came painted - even if it just is plain old beige).
Instead of breaking the bank by papering an entire room, try purchasing a small amount of the good stuff and framing it as an accent. It's easy to do and it's inexpensive. Use samples, splurge on one roll, ask for leftovers, or troll Etsy for some awesome vintage prints. You can have your wallpapered look, but have the option to take it down later without damaging your drywall, which could get expensive - if not taken down properly (trust me, I know).
Have a look at these luscious examples for inspiration.
